One of my assignments in an illustration course I took at CSUN had a specific goal: The viewer should be able to feel the environment that we chose to depict. Provide an image with sensory experiences (sounds, smells, textures, etc.) that the viewer can vividly imagine.
I elected to subject the viewer to a disgusting man cave.

An Inktober illustration I made some years ago ended up serving as the prototype to this project, so I titled the piece “Take Me Away” as an homage to what inspired my direction for this assignment.

I was later inspired to take this illustration a step further by making physical blacklight prints. They were quite the conversation pieces.

My professor utilized the, at the time, brand new 4K projector that was installed in the classroom to display everyone’s assignments, including mine. He did the courtesy of zooming in on details of the illustration as I was explaining them (much to the awe and visceral disgust of my classmates).
I received an A.
